Risk Head – Credit Cards (Taguig)

Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines | Full-time | Partially remote

Apply

Trusting Social is an AI Fintech pioneer that's revolutionizing credit access in emerging markets. Our mission is "Advancing AI to Meet the Financial Needs of Everyday Consumers with Empathy." We've assessed over 1 billion consumers across four countries, and we're on a mission to provide 100 million credit lines using the power of AI and Big Data.

How You'll Make an Impact

You will own the design, implementation, and ongoing leadership of Trusting Social Philippines' Enterprise Risk Management framework across all risk domains—credit, fraud, operational, compliance, and model risk. As we progress through licensing and into commercial scale, you will serve as the independent second-line voice that shapes our risk appetite, protects the balance sheet, and gives the business the confidence to grow responsibly. You will work directly with executive leadership, the Board, and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, ensuring that every product we launch is backed by sound governance and a clearly defined risk posture.

This role is built for someone who doesn't wait for risk to surface before acting—someone who reads early signals, designs guardrails before they're needed, and is equally comfortable challenging a credit policy in a boardroom as they are building a governance framework from scratch. You will thrive here if you bring the audacity to challenge how risk has always been done and the mindfulness to know where the limits are.

What You'll Do

Enterprise Risk Framework & Governance

  • Own the Enterprise Risk Management framework end-to-end—design, implement, and continuously strengthen it across all risk domains
  • Define the Company's risk appetite statement, risk tolerance limits, and escalation protocols—making calls without waiting for central approval
  • Build and maintain enterprise risk policies, governance committees, and board-level reporting mechanisms
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties and full independence of the second-line risk function
  • Prepare risk reports for Executive Management, Board Committees, and the Board—synthesizing signals into actionable insight

Credit Risk Oversight

  • Provide independent oversight of underwriting, portfolio management, collections, recoveries, and provisioning frameworks
  • Review, challenge, and approve credit policies to ensure alignment with the Company's risk appetite
  • Monitor portfolio performance across on-us lending, co-lending, credit cards, and personal loans; act on early signals before they become losses
  • Own governance over Expected Credit Loss (ECL) methodologies, stress testing, and scenario analysis
  • Track key credit risk indicators and drive corrective action grounded in data-informed decisions

Fraud Risk & Financial Crime Oversight

  • Own the enterprise fraud risk management framework—from prevention through detection, investigation, and response
  • Monitor and strengthen fraud controls across customer onboarding, authentication, and transaction lifecycles
  • Ensure compliance with AML, KYC, sanctions, and financial crime regulations
  • Synthesize fraud trends, emerging threats, and loss events into proactive mitigation strategies
  • Partner with business and technology teams to build fraud prevention capabilities that scale

Regulatory & Compliance Risk Management

  • Serve as the primary interface with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and other regulators—owning examination readiness end-to-end
  • Translate regulatory requirements into actionable internal policies; monitor compliance and flag gaps before they become findings
  • Ensure the Company operates within its licensed scope, with audit-ready documentation at all times
  • Lead engagement with external auditors, legal counsel, and compliance advisors on risk and regulatory matters
  • Keep executive management and the Board informed of the regulatory landscape and material compliance risks

AI-Driven Risk Intelligence

  • Use AI tools actively to accelerate risk analysis, model monitoring, portfolio surveillance, and governance documentation
  • Craft precise prompts and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs before acting—maintaining a human-in-the-loop standard for all risk decisions
  • Experiment proactively with AI-powered workflows to extend the reach of the risk function without adding headcount
  • Build feedback loops between risk outcomes and model performance to continuously improve the Company's risk intelligence

What We're Looking For

Experience & Background

  • 10+ years of experience in financial risk management, with at least 5 years in a senior risk leadership role within a bank, fintech, or regulated lending institution
  • Deep expertise in credit risk, fraud risk, and regulatory compliance within the Philippine financial services sector; BSP regulation familiarity is required
  • Proven experience building or strengthening risk governance frameworks from early-stage through regulatory examination
  • Experience with credit card, consumer lending, or co-lending products; exposure to AI-driven credit models is a strong plus
  • Background in fintech, digital banking, or high-growth financial services; startup or regulated greenfield experience is a strong plus

How You Work

  • Insights & AI Readiness — You synthesize portfolio data, model outputs, and AI tools into risk decisions; you evaluate outputs critically and apply AI to expand what the risk function can monitor and flag
  • Bias for Action — You move quickly to design guardrails, challenge policies, and resolve emerging issues—without waiting for a full committee mandate
  • Cross-domain Competence — You connect credit, fraud, compliance, and model risk thinking naturally, coordinating across product, technology, and finance to move fast
  • Growth Mindset — You treat every loss event, regulatory finding, and model gap as a learning signal; you raise the bar continuously

Skills & Competencies

  • Business Owner — You own the Company's risk profile end-to-end; you make calls on risk appetite without waiting for central approval and are accountable for outcomes, not just oversight
  • Domain Expert — You can break down credit risk mechanics, ECL methodology, or fraud detection logic for any audience; you document edge cases before they become incidents
  • Platform Guardian — You design governance and guardrails before products launch; every framework you build is audit-ready by default
  • AI Operator — You keep risk models, AI-assisted analytics, and automated monitoring above quality threshold; you catch drift early and act before it affects the portfolio
  • Strong English communication skills (spoken and written — professional fluency required)
  • High adaptability and comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
