Trusting Social is an AI Fintech pioneer that's revolutionizing credit access in emerging markets. Our mission is "Advancing AI to Meet the Financial Needs of Everyday Consumers with Empathy." We've assessed over 1 billion consumers in Asia, and we're on a mission to provide 100 million credit lines using the power of AI and Big Data.
How You'll Make an Impact
The Finance team at Trusting Social sits at the intersection of regulatory compliance, group reporting, and strategic decision-making for a fast-scaling AI Fintech operating across multiple markets. As Group Finance Director, you own the full financial function for all our entities — from accounting and audit oversight to budgeting, forecasting, and risk management — while partnering directly with the C-suite to ensure our financial commitments are met and our controls are audit-ready at all times.
The person who thrives here is not someone who maintains the status quo — they challenge it. They act on early signals in financial data before problems escalate, set clear expectations with internal stakeholders before misalignments develop, and are not bound by how finance functions have always been run. They bring the technical depth to navigate IFRS, VAS, tax, and regulatory complexity alongside the leadership presence to build and develop a high-performing finance team in a company moving at pace.
What You'll Do
Financial Strategy & Planning
- Own the financial planning and strategy for all Trusting Social entities — build forecasts and budgets grounded in evidence, not precedent, that reflect the business's actual trajectory.
- Partner with the C-suite on group reporting responsibilities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency across all consolidated outputs.
- Treasury & Cash Management
- Own group cash planning and positioning across entities; oversee payment and payroll release controls, banking relationships, and intercompany funding flows.
Accounting, Audit & Compliance
- Take full ownership of audit and tax functions across all entities — manage relationships with external auditors, ensure IFRS/VAS compliance, and resolve issues before they escalate.
- Develop and implement accounting policies that are robust enough to withstand regulatory scrutiny and practical enough to support fast-moving operations.
Financial Control & Risk Management
- Build from evidence — synthesize complex financial data into actionable risk assessments and make calls on mitigation without waiting for direction.
- Own internal controls end-to-end: design, review, and strengthen them as the business scales, not after problems surface.
Reporting & Governance
- Produce financial performance reports and departmental budget reviews that give leadership the clarity to make high-quality decisions — on time, every time.
- Prepare governance materials that are clear, complete, and audit-ready by default.
- Prepare monthly board and investor reporting on group financial performance.
Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, develop, and retain a finance team that grows with the business — set high standards, create a culture of ownership, and invest in each person's capabilities.
- Raise the bar on how the finance function operates: identify inefficiencies, challenge inherited processes, and drive continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
Experience & Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience across strategic finance, FP&A, group accounting/controllership, finance business partnering, investment banking, private equity/VC, or Big 4 audit or advisory.
- CPA, CA, ACCA, or CFA preferred.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS/VAS, financial and statistical analysis, tax, and Singapore & Vietnam legal and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working across multiple markets/geographies — comfortable with cross-border analysis, multi-currency planning, intercompany flows, and transfer-pricing considerations.
- Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills (expert-level Excel/Google Sheets); able to build models from scratch and stress-test assumptions.
- Proficiency in leveraging AI tools (Claude / ChatGPT / Gemini) or other BI tools for automation and data visualization.
- Excellent written and spoken English (the role involves daily interaction with cross-border teams).
- Strong communication skills, including comfort in investor-facing and senior-stakeholder settings.
- Experience in fintech, technology, or a high-growth startup is a strong plus.
How You Work
- You use AI tools in your financial workflows — for data analysis, scenario modeling, reporting drafts, and audit preparation — and you evaluate AI outputs rigorously before they reach any stakeholder.
- You act on early signals in financial data without waiting for the full picture; you form a hypothesis, test it, and move to resolution with urgency.
- You connect financial outcomes to business decisions across functions — you understand how a budget call in one department ripples into risk, product, and people planning.
- You invest in building your own skills with the same discipline you bring to developing your team — you follow regulatory changes, emerging finance technology, and best practices, and you apply what you learn.
Skills & Competencies
- Business Owner — Owns the full financial function for all entities; makes calls on risk, controls, and reporting without waiting for direction, and is accountable end-to-end for outcomes.
- Domain Expert — Applies deep expertise in IFRS/VAS, tax, audit, and financial controls with confidence; advises leadership, documents edge cases, and ensures compliance is never an afterthought.
- Platform Guardian — Designs and maintains internal controls before gaps appear; audit-ready by default, not by scramble.
- AI Operator — Integrates AI tools into finance workflows to improve accuracy and efficiency; monitors output quality and catches drift before it reaches a stakeholder.
- Strong English communication skills (spoken and written — professional fluency required).
- High adaptability and comfort operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
