Human Resource Director - Head of HR

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam | Operations and Support | Full-time

Apply

We are seeking an experienced HR Director to serve as the linchpin that transforms our company’s vision into a living, breathing people strategy.  The role will encompass the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of our human resource function and performance in Vietnam. We are looking for professionals who are effective in the boardrooms and on the ground delivering impactful results. If you are an HR professional with a rare combination of strategic vision, hands-on empathy and operational rigor, join us.

Responsibilities

The HR Director will act as an employee champion and a leader of change. You will plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's human resource function and performance in Vietnam.  Specifically, you will be:

Strategic Business Partner

  • In our organization, the HRD is deeply fluent in business strategy. The HRD understands market trends, competition, operating margins, and growth levers, and participates in executive decision-making — not as a support function, but as a driver. The HRD shapes people's plans that directly enable business objectives (growth, innovation, margin improvement, culture).

Change Architect & Culture Custodian

  • HRD leads transformation — be it digital adoption, reorganization, culture shift, team integration, or evolving leadership models. The HRD is equally a steward of the company’s values, culture, psychological safety, and identity. The HRD can preserve what matters and press change where needed.

Organizational Designer & Talent Builder

  • The HRD carves future-ready structures and roles; designs clear career paths; anticipates capability gaps; and builds internal and external talent pipelines. The HRD partners with business units to align talent life cycle (hire, develop, retain, rotate) with business needs.

People First, Metrics Backed

  • Empathy, humility, and trust are core to an HRD’s style. The HRD builds genuine relationships with leaders, managers, and employees across levels, acting as mentor, coach, sounding board. Yet the HRD also demands rigor: HR dashboards, turnover metrics, predictive analytics, cost-of-capital models, use of data to anticipate issues (attrition hotspots, engagement dips, skills gaps).

Operational Excellence & Compliance Steward

  • The HRD ensures HR processes (recruitment, performance management, rewards, payroll, benefits, policies) are robust, scalable, fair, efficient, legally compliant. She picks best-in-class systems and processes to ensure consistency and reduce friction.

Global & Local Sensitivity

  • In a cross-border context, the HRD balances global HR frameworks (benchmarks, standards, mobility, talent exchange) with local cultural, regulatory, and market realities. The HRD is adept at operating in diverse contexts and aligning global-local tensions.

Talent Magnet & Brand Ambassador

  • The HRD helps define the employer brand, narratives, and candidate experience. The HRD ensures our company is not just a workplace but a mission that people want to join and stay in.

Resilient & Adaptive Mindset

  • In volatile, ambiguous environments, the HRD thrives. The HRD balances bold decisions and calculated risks. The HRD learns fast, pivots when needed, and stays composed in turbulence.

Strong Influencer & Communicator

  • The HRD speaks credibly with C-suite, board, external stakeholders and with rank-and-file employees. The HRD shapes narratives, inspires buy-in for change, resolves conflicts, and brings alignment.
  • Purpose – Leads with a deep sense of “why” behind every people decision. Shapes HR strategy to serve the company’s mission of reducing financial suffering and human impact — ensuring that recruitment, development, and culture all move the organization closer to its higher purpose, not just quarterly metrics. Inspires leaders and employees to see their roles as contributions to a shared cause.
  • Mindfulness – Models awareness, empathy, and presence in every interaction. Creates spaces for honest dialogue, attentive listening, and emotional intelligence in leadership. Balances speed with reflection — understanding when the organization needs to pause, heal, or re-center before pushing forward. Promotes wellbeing as a strategic lever, not an afterthought.
  • Insight-Driven – Uses people analytics, organizational sensing, and qualitative insights to illuminate what numbers alone cannot. Translates data into foresight — anticipating shifts in talent, motivation, and capability before they surface. Makes evidence-based yet human-sensitive decisions, blending HR technology with emotional intelligence.
  • Audacity – Has the courage to challenge legacy mindsets, redesign outdated systems, and advocate for what’s right rather than what’s easy. Experiments boldly with new organizational models, leadership frameworks, and talent philosophies. Inspires the company to embrace change with conviction and optimism — while grounding every innovation in values and ethics.

Requirements

Experience & Track Record

  • A decade or more in HR leadership or senior roles spanning generalist and specialty (e.g. talent, L&D, OD, reward).
  • Proven track record of leading transformations (reorg, integrating acquisitions, digital HR)
  • Experience as HRBP or embedded partner to business units
  • P&L exposure or deep partnership with operations to link HR levers to business outcomes
  • Exposure to multinational / cross-cultural settings
  • Hands-on experience in designing compensation / performance systems, succession, leadership development
  • Strong exposure to data & analytics in HR (using metrics, predictive modeling, dashboards)
  • Credibility in labor / legal / compliance domain
  • Evidence of building high-performing HR teams under them

Leadership Presence & Behavior Traits

  • High emotional intelligence (EQ) — reading moods, adjusting style, moderating tension, restoring trust
  • Integrity, courage to confront tough issues, clarity of values
  • Servant leadership: empowers others, delegates, builds capacity
  • Balances short-term “putting out fires” with long-term investments in culture and capability
  • Continuous learner mentality
  • Humble yet confident — no ego over winning as a team
