How you will make an impact in this role
We build AI-powered products that change how financial decisions are made. As a Business Owner, you are the connective tissue between user needs, data insights, and engineering execution. You are not the person who follows a playbook — you are the sharp thinker who questions assumptions, cuts through ambiguity, and owns what ships.
What you will do
- Own the business metric your product area moves — set quarterly KPI targets (CVR, revenue contribution, cost per decision, gross margin impact); monitor weekly; you own the number, not just the tracking of it.
- Own the business value of each sprint — before each sprint, define the business outcome it is designed to move (CVR lift, cost reduction, revenue unlock); after it ships, validate whether it moved; you own the gap between intended and actual impact.
- Own the business ROI of every build trade-off — prioritize by expected business value (revenue, CVR, gross margin) vs. cost; make deprioritization explicit with reasoning; you own the consequence of what was delayed or killed, not just what shipped.
- Own the business impact of each release — set minimum viable scope against the intended outcome (CVR, revenue, cost reduction, gross margin); make the go/no-go call; a release that ships on time but doesn't move the metric is still your outcome.
- Own feature adoption and post-launch business validation — validate the core assumption before building; track adoption, CVR, and revenue impact after launch; a feature that ships cleanly but moves nothing is a failed outcome.
- Own yearly/quarterly/monthly business commitments — translate roadmap into milestone-level outcomes with clear metrics (CVR targets, revenue contribution, cost reduction, gross margin improvement); flag deviations early; own the gap between committed and delivered.
- Own AI feature business outcomes — define success in business terms (CVR lift, revenue impact, cost savings, gross margin effect), not model accuracy; decide when a model creates enough business value to ship; own the impact-vs-risk trade-off for every AI capability in production.
What We're Looking For
Core traits — non-negotiable:
- Logical thinker: you structure problems before jumping to solutions. You can break a messy situation into clear components and reason through it step by step.
- Critical thinker: you challenge assumptions — including your own. You ask for evidence, not just opinions, and you push back when the logic doesn't hold.
- Fast learner: you pick up new domains quickly and connect dots across disciplines. You don't need a full brief to start forming a view.
- Communicator: you write clearly and concisely. You can explain a technical concept to a non-technical audience without losing precision.
Outcome owner signals — we will probe for these in interviews:
- You monitor business metrics yourself. You don't wait for someone to tell you a number moved.
- You own the balancing act. You don't escalate trade-offs — you frame them, recommend, and decide within your scope.
- You distinguish motion from progress. Features shipped and meetings held are inputs, not outcomes.
- You can answer: "What business metric did my work improve last quarter?" — with specifics.
Experience & skills:
- Experience in product management or a closely related role with hands-on ownership of a live product is a plus
- Proven track record shipping AI/ML or data-driven features with measurable business results.
- Comfortable with data: SQL or equivalent, product analytics dashboards, basic statistical reasoning.
- Experience working with or alongside AI/ML teams — you understand what a model guarantees and what it does not.
- Strong written communication — PRDs and specs that drive decisions, not docs that get filed.
- Proficiency in product tools: Jira, Confluence, Figma (or equivalent).
AI Readiness Level: Advanced — required for this role.
- You use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) daily to accelerate drafting, research, synthesis, and analysis — not as a party trick.
- You critically evaluate AI outputs. You spot hallucinations, biases, and gaps instead of passing them downstream as your own work.
- You write precise prompts that get useful results. You iterate until the output is actually good enough to act on.
- You understand AI limitations — model drift, data quality issues, edge cases — and factor them into product decisions.
- You collaborate fluently with data scientists. You know the difference between what a model optimises for and what the business needs.
- You define AI feature success in business terms: not accuracy, but the outcome that accuracy enables.
Nice to Have
-
Experience in fintech, lending, credit risk, or financial services.
